Since 2016, EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum has been a space to acknowledge and celebrate the Irish diaspora and the far-reaching impact they've had.
Now’s your chance to get hands-on with Irish culture and its past with our fully interactive museum – swipe through video galleries, challenge yourself with motion sensor quizzes, dance in the footsteps of legends, listen to remastered audio from 100 years ago and watch videos that bring Irish history to life.
At EPIC you’ll discover the far reaching influence of Irish history and the impact that the 10 million Irish men and women who left Ireland had on the world.
It's fittingly based within the chq Building along Dublin's docklands, where hundreds and hundreds of Irish people boarded famine ships in the mid 1800s to escape hunger and build better lives for themselves and their families.
The chq building itself is a Grade One listed building situated within the heart of the city’s bustling International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). It was built in 1820 as a new bonded warehouse to store large and valuable cargos of tobacco, tea and spirits. The dockers and merchants knew it as the Tobacco Store, or later, as Stack A. The building was made famous when it hosted the Crimean War Banquet in 1856 celebrating the return of 3,000 Irish soldiers.
